I have acquired the list of names and documents that a
clinic employee from the Medical Records office took to her home and which has
created a major issue for many of our tribal people. I wrote a blog about this
issue two weeks ago after I attended an LCO Tribal Council meeting whereby our
Chairman said he wasn’t going to release the names of the those persons whose
rights were violated.
An undisclosed source from the tribal clinic provided me
with the list of the names of those whose records were taken and a list of
documents, letters, emails, etc. that were also taken to this persons home and
found along with the records.
I don’t know at this point if it would be right to publicly
print on the blog the names of these tribal members, but I do believe they have
every right to know and to know immediately, so I will start reaching out and
contacting those people whom I know personally and informing them that their
records were taken.
Also, I have enlisted some help to print copies of this list
and hand-deliver them to some of the other names that appear on here, in hopes
that they can reach out and inform the others on the list. Also, if you are
concerned whether your name is on this list, please Facebook message me or
contact me via my website at votejoemorey.wix.com/votejoe and use the Contact
Joe page and I will tell you simply either yes or no.
Eventually this list will be circulated throughout the
community and what steps you all take from there is up to you, but I highly
recommend that you don’t sit back and allow this to be swept under the rug.
This is a very serious violation of the law and your HIPPA rights.
The list contains 229 names of our people and reaches across
all walks of life here at LCO. There are names from many different families.
Also, there are extensive documents that were found at her
residence including bills, invoices and other confidential information. There
are even documents that were found that have nothing to do with the clinic,
such as one titled, “LCO News Proposal.”
I will print this document list within a few days when I get
time to scan it in and publish it here. I will continue to investigate this
violation of so many rights and try to find out why she took these records home
and who was it that ordered her to do it. We need to know who on the tribal
council had ordered this to be done and what was their gain?
A good Story!
